Latest Site Visit 08/02/2009

Above are some new pictures taken from our Leech Breeding site. Basically Alhamdulillah so far everything is going as planned...and the most rewarding news from this particular visit is that our leeches have started to reproduce...We can observe in the above pictures that the cocoon where as the leeches hatch from have taken form and the baby leeches has hatched and are swimming happily around! Leeches are very sensitive with their surrounding environment especially water temperature and condition. If we could not replicate their natural environment then they would not reproduce. So with the arrival of the baby leeches it is a confirmation that out technic is effective. We have switched feeding our leeches from eel to cat fish plus as a supplement we added some water spinach for their diet.

The End Result...

These photos show the end result of our leech breeding project after the land clearance and well digging. It shows the end result of our effort to make this small project a reality even thou it took alot of effort and time...not to mention funds! But InsyaAllah all will be well. Here we have our canvas filled with fresh natural water from our own 13 feet deep well. We've also fence up the place for privacy and safety purposes. The land is cleared and ready for other future projects. We've build up a roof to shade our leeches from the hot sun and rain. The leeches seem comfortable with this condition as they don't try to run away out of the canvas pond. This shows that the water condition and temperature is to their liking and the whole environment is suitable for them. So now we only wait for the leeches to be ready for harvest.

The Beginning Part 3...

These photos are the final stage of our land clearance activities. We manage to dig a well on our land and Alhamdulillah the water flow is sufficient even during dry season. We have also decided to setup a canvas leech breeding pond instead of digging up a pond on our land.

The Beginning Part 1

These are some photos of our leech breeding site before it was developed. This piece of land was left unattended  by humans  for 20 years. Vegetation covered the land to the point that an old house located on the land is almost not visible!

The Beginning Part 2...

Photos here are the second phase of our land clearance efforts. The house in these photos is more the 80 years old and we are planning to restore it once we have enough fund. Before the land clearance effort took place, the vegetation was so thick that even the house was not visible in the previous photos.
